![]() I tried it, but decided I would rather be in the native environment. It had an option to use the Bootcamp partition to run Windows 10 without restarting. I had recently messed around with parallels desktop on the Mac side. You could also access the grey diamond icon in the access trey to check for Bootcamp updates and restart into Mac OS. The keyboard light worked, the trackpad, wifi, etc. The Bootcamp software was working fine as well. It was working fine and had all of the current updates. But the problem appears to occur in the partition routine, and in the machine's inability to boot to any partition after the Windows error message, and this suggests to me that the problem lies in the APFS drive and the boot camp process of partitioning the SSD.I need to use windows 10 via bootcamp for these few apps that will not run in parallels.Any notion of how to resolve the problem will be welcome. Thanks!!! 11588 5īootcamp won't reinstall on Windows 10 I have a clean install of Windows 10 on a 2013 MBP 15" Retina model. I wonder why I cannot load windows directly from the DVD using my Apple SuperDrive, and whether my creation of the ISO file is correct. At that point, everything seems to work fine again in MacOS.Bootcamp doesn't appear to be working in this new MacBook Pro 2018. I use the Cmd-R command and go to disk utility where I erase the bootcamp partition, then restore from my Time Machine backup, at a loss of 4 hours of time for the restore process to complete. Windows setup in bootcamp appears to load in the normal manner from the iso, transferred to a jump drive, and gets to the last Windows setup step when it must reboot, and then flashes a Windows error message that Windows cannot boot from the drive. The computer subsequently will not boot into MacOS or Windows. My Windows 10 Pro is a new DVD version that I converted to an ISO file via the OSX disk utility, selecting the DVD Master mode, and then changing the suffix on the file from "cdr" to "iso". The drivers download in the normal manner, and boot camp partitions the ssd as directed. I have two programs that must use Windows and require communication protocols such that they cannot function under Parallels or VMWare Fusion. When I initiate Bootcamp assistant it seems to work fine. Can I now download my current system image to an external HDD and use that if I ever have to go through this again? If I can it means that all my apps, personal settings, emails, contact lists, favourites etc will load with the image and I won't have to go through the process of 'personalising' a 'virgin' Windows installation all over again.Ĭannot install BootCamp Windows 10 on Macbook Pro 2018 I have a new MacBook Pro 2018, I9, 32Gb RAM, 2Tb SSD, running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 with the Supplemental update installed, and am unable to install Windows 10 using bootcamp. This of course meant my Windows installation was a virgin/starter version. Loading Win 10 via Boot-camp meant using a Windows.iso image. So I 'boot-camped' again and I am now back to successfully running Win 10 via bootcamp on my Mac. Fine!! I tried to live with the machine as a Mac for a couple of weeks but missed my Win10. I started the Mac via (I think.) Control and R and reloaded MacOS (High Sierra later updated to Catalina) from the web. System Restore didn't work and an error by myself to restore 'back to Mac' failed. A recent download of a 'malicious' CCTV App rendered my Win10 useless. I had Win 10 running in my late 2014 iMac via bootcamp successfully for a couple of years. Installing Windows via Bootcamp with a previously saved system image Hi all. Did Parallels somehow kill my Windows 10 install? Is there a way to fix it without reinstalling? Now, even when I try to boot into Windows 10, I get the "missing operating system" error. I shut that down and tried to go through the process to create a new virtual machine, but got the same "missing operating system" error. ![]() This might have been a mistake, but instead of creating a new virtual machine, I just tried opening my previous virtual machine and got a "missing operating system" error. ![]() This morning, I booted back up into Mojave and then tried to access my Bootcamp install through Parallels. Anyway, that went off without a hitch and I booted into Windows 10 several times. I booted up in Windows 7 and went through their free upgrade process (which technically expired years ago but still works). Well, I just got an Oculus Quest and in order to use it I had to upgrade to Windows 10 which I did last night. I have had Windows 7 Professional installed on it's own HDD in my Mac Pro and was able to boot up into it or access it from Parallels 10 depending on what I needed to do.
